This decision was made at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party; held to discuss the current crisis and other agendas affecting the party. A move deemed necessary by the President due to the party leadership tussle; and the inability of the National Working Committee (NWC) to manage the situation.
President Buhari also ordered the constitution of a caretaker committee while calling for the suspension of all pending suits involving the party.
Furthermore, he appointed the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, as Caretaker of the Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the party.
